The cell walls of cereal grains, legumes and oil seed meal are composed
of complex carbohydrates referred to as “Non Starch Polysaccharides”.
NSPs are plant polymers which include cellulose, hemi-cellulose, 
pectin, β-glucans, α-galactisides and petosans. The presence of
such anti-nutritional factors make the digested material in the bird's
ntestine viscous. Thus, nutrient absorption in the gut is reduced.
