The cell wall of cereals, legumes and oil seeds are composed of complex carbohydrates
known as Non Starch Polysaccharides (NSPs). NSPs comprise a wide range of
plant polymers like cellulose, hemicellose, pectin, β-Glucans, a-galactisides
and pentosans. Cellulose and hemicellulose are water soluble that
increases digesta viscosity. Viscous intestinal digest lowers nutrient
uptake. Xylanase breakdown these viscous compounds and
improves nutrient absorption. The action of Xylanase enzyme
also increases metabolizable energy.
